Description

This course gives engineers the practical steps needed to construct, test and produce embedded systems without fees, subscriptions or royalties. All steps are carried out during the class. All software components used on both host and target are 100% Open Source and require no purchase, no subscription and no royalty payment of any kind.

The course is four days in duration and includes a significant amount of hands-on time. It is presented by accomplished, professional engineers with extensive experience in the embedded, real-time and Linux industries.

  • Choosing, downloading and installing the host system distribution;
  • Choosing, downloading and installing the target system cross-development environment;
  • Locating and evaluating board support packages in Open Source;
  • Strategy for bringing up a new board support package under Linux;
  • Building and testing application- and kernel-level software;
  • Moving software to the target and setting up the boot process; and
  • Diagnostic tools for the target environment.
